Kerry O’Brien is one of Australia’s most distinguished and respected journalists. The recipient of six Walkley Awards, he has witnessed, reported on and explained life-changing events to millions of Australians throughout his decades long career.
As well as regularly dissecting the policies and promises of Australian politicians with his razor-sharp questions, Kerry has also interviewed world leaders including Nelson Mandela, Margaret Thatcher, Mikhail Gorbachev, and Barack Obama. There have also been interviews with many eminent artists and scientists: David Bowie, Robin Williams, Oliver Sacks, to name just a few. For 20 years he was the face of the ABC’s election night coverage.
He has written two books, one on former Australian Prime Minister Paul Keating and more recently a memoir on the social and political upheavals he has witnessed in half a century of journalism.
Kerry was recently inducted into the Logies Hall of Fame and received his award with a widely celebrated speech on the “failures of politics, failures of journalism and failures of society”.
Our very own Scott Rowe has accepted the challenge to “interview the interviewer” and we can look forward to some very entertaining and funny stories.
