Wrap your laughing gear around as many lamingtons as you can manage at the Lamington Eating Competition during the special early Australia Day celebrations at Food ‘n’ Groove Fridays on January 25.
Robyn Peach, events manager for Fraser Coast Tourism & Events, said the contest was free to enter and would start at 5.30pm.
“The winner will receive a day away at Kingfisher Bay Resort for two adults and two children including ferry transfers and day use of the resort facilities and the runner-up will pocket a voucher for a Hervey Bay Boat Club summer cruise,” she said.
Mrs Peach said participants needed to register by emailing sliles@fcte.com.au or at the event before 5pm on January 25.
“Event goers should also start warming up their vocal chords to have a go at the free Cooee Competition which will begin at 4.30pm and is divided into three categories,” she said.
Mrs Peach said the winner of the nine to 14 years age category would take home a $100 Timezone voucher, first-placegetter in the 15 to 18 years age group would win a $100 JB Hi-Fi voucher while the number one cooee caller aged 19 and over would collect a $100 Beach House Hotel voucher.
“Don’t miss the whip-cracking, fireworks and show and shine displays or the performance by four-piece, Bundaberg-based, rock band Walker Street,” she said.
Food ‘n’ Groove Fridays events are held at Pialba’s City Park, beside the Fraser Coast Cultural Centre, from 4pm to 9pm.
