The Hervey Bay PCYC, local police officers, and members of the community came together this morning to shave off their locks in support of colleague, Sergeant Kelly Chamberlain who has recently been diagnosed with an aggressive form of breast cancer.
About 10 people lined up ready to shave for cancer, Kelly said, “I am a pretty tough cookie, but I have shed many tears, not just about the diagnosis but the kindness shown by others”.
The morning was aimed at raising awareness about breast cancer and the importance of checking yourself.
“Speak to your Aunties, talk to your mum and your friends, teach them the importance of checking themselves, it could save a life”, said Kelly.
A Cancer Council fundraiser page has been set up to assist Kelly and her family during the Journey ahead – https://www.doitforcancer.com.au/fundraisers/meganmckillop?
Please consider making a donation, it really can make a difference.
