The Relish Food & Wine Festival returns to the Mary River Parklands and Queens Park, Maryborough for a delicious day of regional produce, impressive sessions and demonstrations – an afternoon of live entertainment with your beverage of choice in hand.
The region’s most diverse foodie festival will take place on Saturday, 4 June 2022 between 10am and 5pm. An impressive entertainment line-up will be announced in the following weeks, including the list of celebrity chefs providing cooking demonstrations in the Food Lover’s Marquee.
FCTE general manager Martin Simons said Relish was a fantastic event showing casing the region’s food and wine offerings, with something for every member of the family.
“The venue on the banks of the Mary River bathed in winter sunshine, with room for families to spread out and take in the festival vibe, is an event not to be missed.
“Relish has been an important signature celebration on the Fraser Coast calendar since 2013 and has grown from strength to strength.
“We have listened to public feedback and this year we have adopted an expanded festival footprint to include both Queens Park and the Mary River Parklands, taking the best of both locations into the full seven-hour program”.
Hyne Timber has also backed this year’s event sponsoring the Main Stage to help mark the 140th anniversary of the founding of the company in Maryborough in 1882.
SESSIONS RETURNING
The 2022 program will include the return of ticketed sessions along with an event, ‘Paint & Sip’ hosted by Gin & Gesso in the gardens of Portside Café and Restaurant. Guests will be guided step-by-step to create a piece de resistance while sipping on regional wine.
Returning this year is local fine-dining restaurant, Odyssey Bistro with their session ‘Odyssey Food & Cocktail Journey’ showcasing some of the Fraser Coasts’ regional farms and distilleries, with the aim of creating the perfect food and drink pairing.
Tourism Ambassadors and community superstars, Dan and Steph Mulheron will introduce festivalgoers to their Pigs, Pots & Pinot creation – a celebration of the couple’s favourite food and wine. Session guests will enjoy a unique three-course meal curated and hosted by the celebrity couple.
“We are thrilled to be showcasing what our region has to offer at Relish 2022! Being around likeminded local producers who have a passion for food excites us,” says Steph, a co-owner of Eat at Dan and Steph’s and a Fraser Coast Tourism Ambassador.
“The day is full of good times and yummy food which ticks all of our boxes. We can’t wait to see you there.”
Portside Café and Restaurant will host ‘Champagne High Tea’ for those looking to enjoy elegant, handcrafted sweets and sandwiches paired with a glass of champagne, espresso coffee and loose-leaf tea selection. With fantastic views overlooking the Mary River and Queens Park, here festivalgoers will learn from “Portside Mary” about the origins and etiquette of the High Tea in a heritage listed setting.
Festivalgoers can pre-order a ‘Cheese and Charcuterie’ platter from Maryborough’s own specialty deli, MAD Providore. The platter is a single serving and includes a selection of cheeses, charcuterie, antipasto, fruit & nuts and is not available to purchase on the day. Be sure to get in quick, as the session will be pre-order only.
It wouldn’t be a Relish Food & Wine Festival without the ‘Blues and Brews Cruise’ and ‘Twilight River Cruise’ hosted by the Hervey Bay Boat Club. With various sessions, the ‘Blues and Brews Cruise’ will meander along the Mary River while serving premium craft beers, a fine selection of wines or a refreshing alcoholic ginger beer. Guests are encouraged to sit back, enjoy the soulful entertainment and tuck into the included cheese tasting platter.
The ‘Twilight River Cruise’ will chaperone festivalgoers back to Hervey Bay on a delightful three-hour cruise, offering chilled beverages and the sights of a Fraser Coast sunset.
