I was thrilled to have had the opportunity to have Nays Baghai’s film grace our inaugural HBFF and also take out Best Feature Documentary for 2024. It does everything you want a documentary to do – it takes you on a journey through stunning cinematography, it inspires you with a true and remarkable story and it is directed with vision and purpose. A must see to have that rare glimpse into the world of cave diving from the perspective of the world’s best female diver. A huge accolade for Diving Into the Darkness!”

Director Nays Baghai made history during the film’s production by becoming the first-ever film director to learn cave diving on a rebreather for a specific project. This groundbreaking achievement allowed him to dive alongside the world’s top technical divers, venturing deep into underwater caves that remain inaccessible to both recreational divers and traditional film crews.

We are thrilled to bring this inspiring story to a wider audience,” said Nays Baghai, “Jill’s courage and passion for exploration are truly remarkable, and we hope this film ignites a sense of adventure in everyone who sees it.”
