On the music scene with Amy Shark

After honing her craft and self-producing her music for years, Amy Shark became a household name in 2016 with the release of her breakout hit, ‘Adore’, putting her on the map as one of Australia’s most formidable songwriters. This was followed by the APRA (Australian Performing Right Association) award-winning hit, ‘I Said Hi’, and the 2019 3 x platinum single ‘Mess Her Up’

Shark’s debut/breakthrough #1 ARIA (Australian Record Industry Association) album and Platinum-certified Love Monster was recognised in 2018 with four ARIA. It went on to become the highest selling album by an Australian artist for that year.

Soon, the international music community came knocking, leading her to work with Blink 182’s Mark Hoppus, pop heavyweight producers Jack Antonoff and Joel Little, among others. Amy Shark was the first Australian artist to be crowned as the Apple Up Next Artist and as such, covered billboards in the US and performed on US TV for Jimmy Fallon, James Corden, and Colbert, touring the US multiple times and winning fans over across the country.

Not one to slow down, 2020 saw Amy release her ARIA award-winning, platinum accredited single, ‘Everybody Rise’, which is nearing 40 million streams globally and spent 12 weeks in the top 10 Australian airplay chart. Amy’s latest album, Cry Forever (released April 2021), was her second #1 ARIA debut holding the top spot for two weeks consecutively. Shark teamed up with blink 182’s Travis Barker on gold accredited single ‘C’mon’ and global superstar Ed Sheeran to co-write platinum single ‘Love Song’s Ain’t For Us’ featuring Grammy award-winning artist Keith Urban. Amy took home the APRA (Australian Performing Right Association) award for the same song in the category, Most Performed Country Work, in 2022. Today Amy has 750 million combined global streams.

No stranger to the big stage, Amy has headlined many major festivals and won over the 70,000-strong crowd at Fire Fight Australia.

Recently joining forces with multi-platinum producer R3HAB for Bic Runga’s renowned song ‘Sway. Amy Shark gives a fresh take on the renamed version ‘Sway My Way.’ The new single marks a creative departure from R3HAB’s signature high-energy dance music style with a more laid-back feel. Riding on organic instrumentals and Shark’s crystalline vocals, the two artists create an emotive sonic energy that still pays homage to the original version.

Amy Shark is currently on the road for her See U Somewhere Australia tour.
