The Queensland Turbine Flyers’ annual visit to the Maryborough Aeromodellers Club is on again. Model planes that can fly with speeds of up to 300-400kmh will provide a spectacular display at the Jets Over the Fraser Coast event on Saturday, June 16th & Sunday, June 17. This annual event commenced some seven years ago and continues to grow each year.
This scale and sport powered models, when they are in the air just don’t look like models, they look like the real ones and sound like the real ones. They are powered by real jet turbines inside the models just on a smaller scale. Today’s technology has the planes looking and sounding like the real deal.
About thirty pilots will be in attendance from all over Queensland and interstate with approximately 60-80 planes on show.
The event is NOT a public display, the community if they wish to attend may do so with Saturday being the most popular day for flying of the models. There are no fees to attend. The club’s canteen will be in operation and the club hope those attending can support it.
There are many facets to aeromodelling and these turbines powered models are but just one part of flying model aeroplanes. The club has regular flying days on Wednesdays, Saturdays, and Sundays with qualified Trainers and club aircraft available for a try before you buy and get involved in the exciting aspect of aeromodelling. All ages are encouraged to join. More information may be obtained by contacting the club by either their Facebook page at Maryborough Aero Model Club or the club Secretary via secretary@maryboroughmac.com.
The Maryborough Aeromodellers Club is located on Boonooroo Road just past the Granville waste transfer station.
